TO TAKE A WIFE PG
Director: Ronit & Shlomi ElkabetzDuration: 97 MinsLanguage: French, Hebrew, Arabic with English subtitles

Haifa, June 1979. The film takes place in Israel during the three days leading up to Shabbat.

Viviane is once again on the point of leaving Eliahu, her husband. Once again, her brothers convince her that her place is next to her husband, her children and her family. Worn out by an existence that denies Vivianne her dreams and her rights and weary of a husband who privileges tradition to the detriment of their life together, Viviane stays, but she’s at the end of her rope.

It’s just then that, Albert, a man she once loved, and who was able, for a brief moment, to offer her the freedom to be herself, once again turns up in her life.

Ronit won her Best Actress awards for To Take a wife in 2004 along with the Best Audience Award at Venice film Festival, Best Actor Award at Thessaloniki Film Festival, Critics Awards at Hamburg Film Festival
