"Yuli is about Art, about the sacrifice of dedicating one's life to that art and above all, about what we are" - Director Icíar Bollaín

The biopic YULI is inspired by the life of acclaimed dancer Carlos Acosta and his autobiography 'No Way Home'. The film follows him from his childhood (earning the nickname Yuli coined by his father) - growing up on the impoverished streets of Havana - through his time at Cuba's National Dance School, to breaking taboos to become the first black artist to dance the role of Romeo in Romeo & Juliet with the prestigious Royal Ballet in London, and forging a legendary career as a principal dancer for 17 years with the Royal Ballet, to finding his own dance company Acosta Danza.
