The documentary serves as an Eastern "Dunkirk," honoring the heroic actions of Chinese fishermen. Filmmaker Fang Li and his crew conducted extensive historical research, making significant efforts to connect with key figures and their descendants from the UK, the US, Japan, and China.
Their mission was to uncover the truth about the WWII "ship of death" — the wreck of the Lisbon Maru, which lies 30 meters beneath the sea near Dongji Island in Zhoushan, China.
